We are a fun loving couple who have decided to pursue our dream to travel the globe. By leaving the "real world" behind, we hope to gain a greater understanding of the actual world around us. We wish to experience the wonderful diversity of culture, language, food, landscapes, wildlife, ideas, and opinions this world has to offer.

Our website is a mix of English and German. Not all posts are translated. Maybe this is a good time to polish up your German? We promise to post a lot of photos too!

For those who don't know us that well:

Kathy grew up in a small town near Linz, Austria. She studied Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Vienna and has spent the last six years working to help resettle refugees in the United States. She is most excited to learn about and engage with the different cultures across the globe. (she's excited about the food too!)

Phil grew up on a family farm near Bloomington, Illinois, USA. He studied Animal Science at the University of Illinois and has spent the last six years working in the biotech industry as a project manager. He is most excited to see the amazing wildlife and beautiful landscapes that we are sure to come across on this journey.

We first met and fell in love in Vienna, Austria in 2006. Due to the distance that separates our families and friends, our relationship has always been a global one. We view this trip as just another chapter in our lives and in our relationship, and are confident that we will gain invaluable life experience from it.

Die große weite Welt ist unser Ziel! Wir wollen nun endlich unseren Traum von einer Reise rundum den Globus verwirklichen. Den Alltag hinter uns lassen, andere Länder, Kulturen, Landschaften und Speisen erkunden. Abenteuer und Spaß sind vorprogrammiert. Wir hoffen unsere Eindrücke und Erfahrungen werden nicht nur uns bereichern, sondern auch unsere Anhänger!

Unsere Seite ist auf Deutsch und Englisch. Nicht alle Einträge sind in beiden Sprachen. Eine gute Gelegenheit das Englisch aufzupolieren. Wir werden natürlich auch viele Fotos teilen.

Für diejenigen die uns nicht so gut kennen:
Kathy ist nähe Linz, Österreich aufgewachsen. Sie hat Kultur- und Sozialanthropologie auf der Universtität Wien studiert und hat in den letzten 6 Jahren in den USA mit Flüchtlingen gearbeitet. Ihr Ziel auf dieser Reise ist es andere Kulturen und Leute näher kennenzulernen und dazu gehört natürlich alle traditionellen Speisen zu probieren!

Phil ist auf einer Familienfarm in Bloomington, Illinois, USA aufgewachsen. Er hat Tierwissenschaften auf der University of Illinois studiert und die letzten 6 Jahre also Projekt Manager im Biotechnologie-Sektor gearbeitet. Er freut sich besonders auf die vielfältige Tierwelt und Landschaften, die wir auf unserer Reise erkunden werden.

2006 haben wir uns in Wien das erste mal kennengelernt und verliebt. Wir haben unsere Beziehung schon immer als globales Phänomen gesehen, da unsere Familien und FreundInnen auf zwei verschiedenen Kontinenten sind. Diese Reise ist für uns ein weiteres Kapitel in unserem gemeinsamen Leben. Wir sind bereit für diese einzigartige Lebenserfahrung!
